Process:

Working from a flat Microsoft Access database, the data was first cleaned using Open Refine, including identifying duplicates, cleaning dates, and fixing other errors. Once this was complete, a seed file was created to populate the database. Various scripts have been written to clean up date formatting, add author URLs, and generate lists of errors.

In June and July of 2016, a minimal version of the site was created to allow staff and volunteers at Lincoln City Libraries to start cleaning and expanding on data. Library staff used this interface until a final version was created in 2018 which allowed for fine grained user control.
