Heritage Room

The Jane Pope Geske Heritage Room of Nebraska Authors is a privately funded collection representing the individual and the collective work of generations of Nebraska Authors. The collection exists to encourage the acquisition, preservation, and promotion of works by more than 4,000 Nebraska authors, past and present. Housed on the third floor of Bennett Martin Public Library in Lincoln, NE, this unique special collection holds over 14,000 books, information files, photographs, audio/visual materials, periodicals, artwork, and other memorabilia reflective of Nebraska’s rich literary tradition.

The Heritage Room is a treasure trove of Nebraska’s literary works. Its founders recognized the high value of the written word to our state’s culture, and lucky for us all, the work of finding and preserving this lively and lengthy collection is ongoing. Twyla Hansen, Nebraska State Poet, 2013-2018
