Victor Hass

Born 1909

Hass was the Omaha World Herald books editor from the 1940s into the 1970s writing a column called "Leaves from a Bookman's Notebook," selections from which were eventually published as a book. He also wrote reviews for the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times Book Review, Saturday Review and other distinguished journals. He frequently reviewed books by Mari Sandoz and other Nebraska authors, and his reviews were widely quoted, including a review of Sandoz's The Cattlemen that was quoted on the publisher's dust jacket.
