Omaha journalist with a special interest in Boy's Town, Hyland has published many of his book with Boy's Town Press. "Inspiration to be a writer came from reading newspaper editorials and columns... Art Buchwald, Mike Royko... when I was in grade school." Letters from the Front: Boys Town on the Battlefield from Pearl Harbor to the Persian Gulf, 1995, his best known effort, was co-authored with Hugh Reilly, with a foreword by Bob Kerrey.
