Freelance writer originally from Texas. She and her husband lived in Omaha, Nebraska for seven years. From 1992-2002 she worked for the Nebraska Chapter of the Nature Conservancy. She has been an advocate for the Iowa Prairie Network and the Prairie Plains Resource Institute in Nebraska. She is the author of several volumes in the Smithsonian Guides to Historic America series, including the volume on The Plains States.. Spent five years helping edit the two-volume Birdlife of Texas at the University of Texas Press.
