The author is a retired 4th generation Nebraska dry land wheat farmer who has published poetry, local history and novels. He says: "I live a reclusive life, isolated in southwestern Nebraska, but travel as much as possible in Latin America." He has described himself as a historian of Latin America and a "Mexico Writer." He first visited Mexico when he was in his twenties and has maintained his ties to the country for over forty years. He has written Mexican regional history, biography, and series of mystery-thriller detective novels set in Mexico. The author is the recipient of the Nebraska Arts Council’s Literary Achievement Award for nonfiction (2000), and in 2007 he was a Fulbright Research Fellow in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
