The author studied with Lowry Wimberly at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was considered one of the "Wimberly's Boys." Lasch is the father of Omaha born American historian and social critic Christopher Lasch. A long term editorial writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Robert Lasch won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing in 1966 for editorials addressing American involvement in the war in Vietnam.
