Poe Ballantine is the pen name of Edwin Hughes. Known for his novels and essays, Ballantine's writing has been compared to Jack Kerouac and Charles Bukowski. The 2014 film "Love & Terror on the Howling Plains of Nowhere" is based on Ballantine's memoir.
