McGerr was a famous and prolific Mystery Writer. She visited the library in 1972 and provided signed copies of books for the collection which became part of the Heritage Room. She is the daughter of Patrick and Katherine (Dore) McGerr. Her mother, Katherine, worked with William Jennings Bryan and ran for Congress both in 1934 and 1938.
