Black feminist leader, civic leader and poet, Lenora worked for over fifty years with the Nebraska Federation of Colored Women's Clubs to help provide education for youth and housing for the aged. She catered for Father Flanagan's Boys' Home in Omaha prior to the establishment of Boys Town. Along with her Federation, she purchased a home in Lincoln called the Old Folks Home in the 1920s. She was also known for her work with the Woodson Center in Omaha, the Colored Women's Church Council and the Ernest Evans Chapter of the American War Mothers. She will be remembered for penning the motto used by the Nebraska Federation of Colored Women's Clubs: "Sowing for Others to Reap."
