Harrington received the 2005 Nebraska Book Award for her children's book, Going North, which drew on her experiences as African-American child moving to Lincoln, NE from Alabama in the 1960s. That book also won the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award in 2005, and the author has won numerous other awards, listed below. Author presented readings at local schools and at Eiseley Branch Library in 2004.
