After an earlier career as a foreign correspondent for UPI-Fox Movietone Television in Africa and the Middle East, where he worked with his wife, also a reporter, Wolf taught English at the New York State University at Brockport for many years. The couple also operated an art gallery in nearby Rochester, NY. Along with his wife, Wolf edited, introduced, and contributed to a number of collections of science fiction or occult literature. He wrote literary criticism, much of it about science fiction. He was also a published poet and photographer.
