Helen A. Moore Henry began teaching school at an early age, eventually taking college classes to obtain her teaching degree. She earned her degree, in 1971 from Wayne State College. She was an elementary teacher for 44 years, retiring in 1987.

Upon retiring, she began researching history and genealogy. She worked countless hours to help compile the history of Madison, NE, Madison County, St. Leonard's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Catholic Church and genealogy records of her own family as well as for others. She wrote several stories for the State Historical Society and local newspapers.
