Clingerman's memoir Field Man: A Chronicle of a Bank Farm Manager in the 1940s tells the story of central Nebraska farms from 1941-1948 when Clingerman served as bank farm manager for the United States National Bank of Omaha. It chronicles rural life, farm mechanization and the recovery of farming from the Depression of the 1930s.
