Budig, a native of McCook, Nebraska, served as Chief of Staff for former Nebraska Governor Frank Morrison. Probably best known as the last president of the American League in Baseball, Gene Budig had a career in College Academics before he was named to the presidency of the American League in Major League Baseball. He was also part-owner of the semi-pro team The Charleston Riverdogs. Budig is the author of several books about college leadership and baseball.
