"Don Weldon" wrote for Prairie Schooner as Weldon D. Melick. He went directly to Hollywood after his studies at the University of Nebraska, and got his start writing (as "Don Weldon") articles and celebrity portraits for Popular Science magazine, including interviews of famous Hollywood figures that made him well-known in the movie community. He then enjoyed great success as a contract writer, with some fifty movie credits and membership in the Writers' Guild of America.
