Weidman, the son of a Lincoln fire chief, became a leading force in the development of modern dance in America in a stellar career that reached from the early 1920s to the late 1950s. Weidman is remembered as one of the pioneers of Modern Dance with his work as a choreographer, dancer and instructor. The Encyclopedia of the Great Plains has an excellent survey of his life and influence which can be accessed online.
