Daughter of German immigrants to Hall County, Friederich 'Fritz' Langman and Margarethe Rief. She moved to southern California after her marriage and wrote two books about her childhood in Hall County that briefly mention her uncle Charles Rief, also a Nebraska author, who immigrated to Hall County and was the author of Land and Light, 1891.
