His obituary in the Chicago Tribune noted that he wrote over 300 articles in the field of Western Americana, as well as The Long Land, a novel about the settlement of Nebraska. He was also widely known in Omaha as the organizer of a semi-annual postcard and paper collectibles show. He wrote for radio in World War II, and operated a direct mail advertising firm in Omaha, beginning in 1957.
