Bess Gerhart Morrison of Lincoln, Nebraska was a famous lyceum circuit and Chautauqua performer of the 1920s, giving dramatic readings, speeches and performing in the kinds of didactic plays characteristic of those institutions. Later, in the 1930s and 1940s she was a speaker for women's clubs and chambers of commerce in cities around the United States.
