Becky Breed writes about life in Nebraska, of living on farms and of her strong connection to the prairie. She worked as a high school principal for an alternative high school and with children and families who are underrepresented as a result of poverty, race, or color. This, and her writing group of 13 years, are the major influences of her writing.
