Swezey was a long time professor of astronomy at the University of Nebraska. When he retired in 1931, the independent Astronomy Department was terminated, and the subject was taught thereafter as a physics course. Swezey appears in the on-line history of the UNL Physics Department under the title "Goodwin Swezey and the observatory that never was."
