Wheeler Winston Dixon

Born 1950 New Brunswick, NJ (USA)

Wheeler Winston Dixon is the James Ryan Professor of Film Studies at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and the author of more than 30 books on film history, theory, and criticism. Before his time at UNL, he taught at Rutgers University, The New School in New York, and the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Dixon is also a notable experimental filmmaker, with films screened at the British Film Institute and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others. In 2003 the Museum of Modern Art honored Dixon with a retrospective of his work. His writing on film history, theory, and criticism has been published widely in scholarly journals, including Cinéaste, Interview, Film Quarterly, and others.
